Not sure, or want to check your own numbers? Just ask.

Ask about any bill, or put your postcode in. Free, nothing to fill in, and nothing you type leaves your browser.

Your postcode and your figures never leave this browser. If I cannot work out what you mean, those words are sent to be classified, and a bill photo goes only if you send one and confirm it. Nothing is stored either way. How that works.

Where this comes from, and where it could be wrong

Every figure is read from Severn Trent Water's own charges scheme for 2026/27, twice, and only published where both readings agreed. Your actual bill depends on how much water you use and whether you have a meter, which is why the calculator on the charges page does the arithmetic.

Worth knowing about Severn Trent Water

Severn Trent charges by ten zones, which follow counties rather than postcodes. Zone 1 is Shropshire, 2 is Worcester and Gloucester, 3 Warwickshire, 4 Leicestershire, 5 Nottinghamshire, 6 Derbyshire, 7 Staffordshire, 8 Central and 9 Chester.

The £1.2321 rate is for a property that discharges straight to a treatment works rather than to a public sewer, which is unusual but real.

Surface water drainage is £8.30 a year plus a rate per pound of rateable value that runs from 20.54p in zone 2 to 25.05p in zones 1, 4, 5 and 6.

Highway drainage is billed separately at £19.68 a year, on the metered, unmetered and assessed tariffs alike.

Assessed charges add the £19.68 highway drainage on top of the figures above. Zones 9 and 10 have their own assessed scale, £174.99 single occupancy and £366.00 multi occupancy for water.

Severn Trent also runs a Water Smart trial tariff with three consumption blocks and a lower standing charge of £40.33. It is a trial and is not the standard tariff.

Severn Trent does not publish one rate in the pound of rateable value. It sets ten charging zones, with water running from 165.13p in zone 9 to 198.79p in zones 1, 5, 6 and 7, and used and surface water from 126.73p to 135.75p. We do not show a single figure because there is not one.

The unmetered fixed charges shown are for zones 1 to 9. Zone 10 pays £140.08 for water rather than £111.37.

These figures come from Severn Trent's own charges pages rather than from its charges scheme document, which refuses automated requests. Both were read twice, once from the page text and once from the table markup, and the two readings agreed on every figure.
