Where this comes from, and where it could be wrong
Every figure is read from Dwr Cymru Welsh Water's own charges scheme for 2026/27, twice, and only published where both readings agreed. Your actual bill depends on how much water you use and whether you have a meter, which is why the calculator on the charges page does the arithmetic.
Worth knowing about Dwr Cymru Welsh Water
Surface water drainage is not a separate line. It is inside the sewerage charge, and the foul only alternatives are given alongside: £105.87 rather than £151.74 metered, and £241.35 rather than £311.65 unmetered. The difference is what surface water and highway drainage cost you.
A property that gets surface water drainage and nothing else pays £84.18 a year, which includes highway drainage.
The sewerage volumetric rate is £2.7418 whether or not you drain surface water. Welsh Water varies the standing charge rather than the rate per cubic metre.
A property with no rateable value pays a uniform service charge instead, £402.39 for water and £632.90 for sewerage, or £562.60 sewerage foul only.
Nothing is charged where the rateable value is £25 or less.
The assessed charges come in two bands set by the appliances in the property rather than by the property type, which is unusual. Band A assumes average use and band B low use.
WaterSure Wales caps a bill at £229.28 for water and £354.49 for sewerage. The HelpU social tariff is £134.72 and £215.44 for anybody applying since August 2020.
Welsh Water's site refuses every automated request, including its robots file, so this document was read from a copy rather than fetched from the site. It is the scheme of charges as published, and the section 8 household figures were confirmed by two different text engines with every figure checked against its own label. Section 9 immediately after it is the non household schedule and carries similar looking figures, so anybody rechecking this should be careful which section they are in.
